Our History
Innovative by Tradition
LE.GA. S.p.A. was founded in 1945, in the immediate post-war period, in a small factory established by the young and enterprising Gaetano Letteriello, affectionately remembered as “Grandfather” Gaetano. The business began with the production of combs, hair clips, and personal care items made of celluloid, a material that was innovative and full of potential at the time.
Thanks to his intuition, passion, and perseverance, Gaetano immediately recognized the extraordinary flexibility and versatility of this material, paving the way for new applications and the company’s rapid growth.
Experimentation and Transformation
From the first experiments, the company quickly moved on to producing toys, construction sets for children, and beach items, successfully responding to the needs of an ever-evolving market. Building on these achievements, the company entered a new phase of growth by moving into the household goods sector, becoming one of the first companies to manufacture such products in plastic.
It was during this period that LE.GA. also began filing its first patents, strengthening its vocation for innovation and production diversification. This marked the beginning of a business story closely tied to the history of plastic itself — a new material destined to transform the lives and habits of entire generations.
